Background

Designed and developed from the ground up,

the site balances academic depth with visual accessibility.

The PESU C-ISFCR website was created to represent the Center for Information Security, Forensics, and Cyber Resilience at PES University, a research initiative focused on cybersecurity, cryptography, digital forensics, and systems resilience.

The goal of the website was to serve as a centralized digital platform that effectively communicates the center's mission, showcases ongoing research, and provides structured access to events, people, and resources.

Where cutting-edge research meets

Problem Statement

The Center for Information Security, Forensics, and Cyber Resilience (C-ISFCR) lacked a centralized digital platform that effectively reflected its multidisciplinary research, academic contributions, and institutional identity. Existing content about the center was scattered, static, and not optimized for discoverability or user engagement.

• There was a pressing need for a responsive, scalable, and user-friendly website that could present complex technical content in an accessible manner while appealing to a wide range of users, from students and faculty to external researchers, industry partners, and funding bodies.

•The solution needed to prioritize clarity, trust, and ease of navigation, all while offering flexibility for ongoing updates and secure student access.

Challenges

Building a digital home for a research-intensive center came with its share of complexities. From translating dense academic content into engaging visuals to ensuring the site could scale with future updates, each challenge required a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on design.

Presenting complex academic content in a digestible format

The research center's work spans advanced cybersecurity, cryptography, and forensics, domains that are typically dense and text-heavy. Presenting this information in a way that would engage both technical and non-technical audiences was a key concern.

Solution: The website introduced visual hierarchies, used iconography, and broke down information into infographic-style sections. This reduced cognitive load and encouraged deeper engagement with the content.

Future-proofing the content structure for easy updates

Research centers constantly evolve, with new projects, people, and events being added frequently. A static website would quickly become outdated and unsustainable.

Solution: A flexible CMS framework was implemented, allowing team members without technical backgrounds to add or modify content, from events and workshops to people profiles and research entries.

Balancing institutional credibility with accessibility

The site needed to look professional and academic to appeal to funding bodies and collaborators while also being approachable for students, external partners, and casual visitors.

Solution: A neutral, modern color palette and clean typography were used alongside consistent spacing and responsive layouts. Visual hierarchy and tone were crafted to support both formal and friendly communication needs.

Designing a scalable system under tight time constraints

With a tight timeline, balancing design exploration with execution was critical.

Solution: A modular design system was established early on, including reusable UI components and brand guidelines to ensure rapid, high-quality implementation.

Enabling secure student-specific access

The center required a login system for students to access private resources and updates.

Solution: A secure student login flow was designed and integrated, with backend support to ensure maintainability and scalability.
